Inspire entrepreneur thinking from FMBA——UTKARSH SHUKLA | FMBA

There is no specific answers to why I decided to start a business. Maybe I don‘t like ceiling.Getting to a job, once in a while, you will definitely get the ceiling this a certain level into which you can grow. 

And there are a lot of philosophical reasons to why I want to start a business as well. when I say philosophical reason I would like to further elaborate on that. I believe as human beings, we have tendency to be bigger than what we are. 

And so, keeping that in mind I don’t want to restrict myself to a certain situation, and I always want to expand as much as I can. And only business can give me that opportunity, to go to any direction or do anything that I want instead of just a job or 9 to 5 that I will be restrict into one thing.

I started my business in China first,then I expanded to U.S. and lastly in India, which is quite weird because I am an Indian but I started from China.

And definitely, we have different systems and we have to navigate different systems according to the situations there. To future learn about how system works in China, I decided to study more about it. If you talk to me about what is the experience.

More or less, is very similar, yet very different, but I cannot been pointed. It is just mostly about rules and regulations corporate laws, buy laws, those things that are different from country to country.

But all in all, business are just business, if you how to navigate the market, you know what the market wants.

It's pretty much of it.

When I chose China is because I had an internship in China in 2017. And when I came here for the first time, I kind of realize the market economic system here is quite good. 

If you go back further more why I decided to find an internship here. Because I somehow in the back of my mind had decided I want to do a business here. 

I read a news headline in TIMES of India. Long time back to Chinese Economics, breaking the chart screen at 10% per year. And at that time U.S. also already slowing down. Indian economic was also growing around 9-10% at that time, but economic size  (in China) was quite huge. Chinese economics was quite huge compared to Indian economic at that particular time.

So I decided to further more explore this and when I came here I decided to do business here.

For me, it's very rare for entrepreneurs to go for MBA. Mostly people who go for MBAs are ones who are already working in a company, and then they want to proceed further,  and they want to find a job, which switch fields. 

That's the crowd that usually goes for MBA,  but I am operating in a market that I'm not very familiar with. My training, as you have already seen,  has been an engineering, not business.  I did learn a lot of things from experience.  But I have still certain barriers that  I needed to cross for example, knowing more people  meeting more like minded individuals with whom I can create something.  So keeping all of these things in mind.

I decided to further do MBA. Now, why FMBA is because I saw the curriculum of this course.

And FinTech and EVP （Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital and Private Equity）, the subjects that was covered in this particular domain was very suitable to me, I can get to learn about finance market, and all of these things combined, along with knowing more people. 

So this is why I chose FMBA over general MBA, 

if you would like to call it.

There is no right answer to this question as to which course benefit me most. But there are certain courses that are more useful to me personally based on my profession than others.  Like, for example, corporate finance, investment banking, accounting and FinTech.  

These kinds of courses are more closely related  to the kind of work that I am into. 

We don't have a clustered community here. I'm speaking from personal experience, in clustered community, there are groups and sometimes people compete among themselves. Sometimes competition can turn ugly, like cutthroat competition, 

But here, when you're talking about our cohort,  our community, our class, we don't have that.

Right from the beginning, from the first day until now, we never got clustered, 

We are all one big class.

One thing when you start a business is very important is you cannot always choose what you should do, what you should not do.

When you are just starting off a business, it's very important for you to be open  to whatever comes your way.  You might or might not be interested in something.

But if there is an opportunity,  I believe you should go for it. To explain further in a minute.  You might be a techie. You might be interested in technology business, or you might be interested in let's say stock trading. But when you're just starting off, I don't think especially on your own,  some people might have silver spoons in their mouth, and they have more resources than others  for some people who have to start from the scratch. I believe they can they should grab any opportunity of any business that comes their way to build up upon that foundation to further do whatever they like.

So missed opportunities are lost opportunity.  For sure and one should not miss any opportunity being stubborn that I will only do this.

People should not get confused, that's my suggestion. 

Like we have a lot of programs been offered here. We have FEMBA, EMF, FMBA……

So, speaking from FMBA, this is not pure Finance ,this is not pure MBA, so do your research and find your fit. If you are interested in both finance and management, this is your perfect choice. 

My suggestion is see the courses, be well prepared as what is coming to you We have excellent curriculum here. You will learn finance but it is not just finance

This is not just MBA.
