The immanent consistency between historical Materialism and new materialism or practical materialism, can’be understood at the level that Marx’s thought is only surpassing the old materialism,nor in terms of the popular political discourse that historical Materialism only represents the change from radical democracy to communism, but should be understood deeply in the historical transcendence over Enlightenment tradition. In the Enlightenment tradition, classical German philosophy transforms the ’natural logic’ of French materialism into the ’historical logic’. Further more, historical materialism exceeds the Enlightenment tradition, regarding the human liberation as political and social liberation, changing the corroboration of self-consciousness to critique of ideology, and then regarding historical materialism as a ’historical science’ which criticizes modernity and capitalism thoroughly. It is historical materialism that creates the modern humanities and social science.
